Travel Attractions in Leh Ladakh

Pangong Lake, LehLeh Ladakh: The Land of Endless Beauty
Spectacularly jagged, arid mountains envelope the land of mythical beauty called as Leh-Ladakh. With vividly coloured mountains, shimmering glaciers and streaming rivers, Leh-Ladakh Tourism safely secures the position of being one of the most beautiful places in India. Rock engravings and archaeological findings indicate that early inhabitants of Leh-Ladakh lived here for over 1000 years and were originally from Tibetan plateau. Later during 4th and 5th century they were joined by Mons, the Buddhists from North India. Thus, an evolving history adds to the significance of Leh-Ladakh Travel Guide.

The major travel attractions in Leh Ladakh include Choglamsar, a Tibetan refugee settlement known for a children's village and a handicraft centre devoted largely to carpet weaving. Another fascinating point is the Beacon Highway in Leh Ladakh. It is an amazing stretch of road from Leh to Nubra Valley at a height of 5606m, making it the highest road in the world. Leh-Ladakh is an ex-Buddhism kingdom so one can find some really exquisite and charming ‘Gompas’ and monasteries on the arid land of the town. Spituk Monastery is one of them, which houses a collection of ancient masks, antique arms and an awe inspiring image of Mahakal - a Hindu deity. The face of the image is kept veiled and is uncovered only during the Spituk Festival of Leh- Ladakh held in January. Similarly there are other beautiful monasteries here like Sankar Gompa, Leh Monastery and Namgyal Tsemo Gompa. Leh Khar Palace and Leh Mosque are some important tourist hotspots in this region. The journey to this dramatically beautiful place is always exciting and gives one an indelible memory of the trip which lasts forever.
