TrichyTrichy: The City of Rock Fort and Temples

With history dating back to the 3rd century, Trichy Tourism is a rich blend of tradition and modernity. Noted for being the Citadel of Cholas, Trichy has also witnessed the rule of Pallavas, Pandyas, Nayak Dynasty, Vijayanagar Empire and the British. Politically, Trichy played a significant role during the Carnatic Wars, in between the British and the English forces. Nestled on the Cauvery River, this fourth largest city of Tamil Nadu is built around the majestic Rock Fort. It is 83 m tall and has two Hindu Temples inside it – the Siva Temple and the Uchipillaiyar Koil. In fact, the rock is presumed to be the oldest rock in this world, with a history of 3800 million years. Apart from the fort, Trichy Travel Guide is dotted with several colleges, churches and temples which have a very long and phenomenal history.

Tourists also indulge in Trichy Travel to explore the great role played by this city in the development of Tamil literature. The tradition of celebrating victories through architecture is a unique feature of Trichy. For example, the Gangaikondam Cholapuram monument in Trichy was established to celebrate the victory of Cholas in the Gangetic plains. Grand Anicut is a 2nd century damn which was built in Trichy, bestowing a beautiful view. There are several casual picnic spots near the Cauvery River, like near the vicinity of Kolli Hills- Puliancholai and Mokkumbu. One can take a temple tour in Trichy and explore temples at Vayalur, Viralimalai and Narthamalai. All in all, Trichy is endowed with innumerable travel destinations which add to its value, colour and feel.
